Welcome back to the new term. I hope you all had a good holiday break and are looking forward to the Autumn term’s training. Maybe we will even get an Indian summer!

This is the first Hitchin Swimming Club e-news – I will issue it regularly and over time it should get prettier.

It seems to me that a lot stuff associated with swimming seems complicated and hard to get hold of at first. So, I will try and explain various aspects of swimming in easy to understand terms. If there is anything you want explained, let me know.

Club news

Session changes - As part of the club’s strategy of offering more quality water time to our swimmers, we are moving Monday morning’s training session from Letchworth to Hitchin Swimming Centre. We are also offering an extra 30 minutes swimming time. The session will be from 06:30 – 08:00. Assuming all goes well and the regular public swimmers at Hitchin are happy, we expect to introduce more sessions.

Web site – As you know, the web site is very out of date. I am just about to change the providers of our web site – which means we will pay a lot less and have better control over our site. Initially the new site will be basic, but I think it is better to have a basic site which we can control than a sophisticated one that is out of date.

Club championships – due to the summer break it has taken a little longer than I would like to produce the results. However, these should be out soon. Likewise we will announce the date of the awards ceremony as soon as we have it.

Hitchin Open Meet

The Hitchin Open Meet will be held on 25^th November. Volunteers wanted to help make the event even better than last year. E-mail me at GJChivers@btinternet.com if you can help.
